SETTING YOURSELF APART FROM THE CROWD WITH PETER N ROSE

The younger generation truly are KILLING IT in 2022, and one of London's talents already leaving his mark is screenwriter, film director and founder of Nort3y Productions, Peter N Rose.

Peter’s career journey began in 2017 with a big vision and the self belief to match. His dedication to his craft has already landed him a film on Amazon Prime, an official selection for the British Urban Film Festival, a place as semi finalist for the Gold Music Awards, four nominations and two wins for the best student short films of the month.

Peter, your short films have been super successful- how did you get to this point?

“I knew I had to make a film great enough to submit to film festivals and it had to set me apart from other short films. I invested a lot financially and put a lot of thought into creating a film that would resonate with the people and organisation that I would be sharing it with.

“I then built out my team, including a director of photography, sound recordists and a gaffer so that I could create this story about taking accountability of your actions, responsibility and trust. I felt like it was important to tell the story from my perspective and put my unique twist on it. Once it was done, I got my director of photography to edit it, I submitted to all festivals and I managed to get an official selection for the British Urban Film Festival, a place as semi finalist for the Gold Music Awards, four nominations and two wins for the best student short films of the month.”

Many people wouldn’t know where to start when writing a script. What does the process look like for you?

“Writers block is very real, but my process is to come up with the theme, message and the characters and the world will stem from there. I would then create the most suitable dialogue from the scene breakdown and slowly put it onto the page. It’s a long process that requires lots of rewriting so that you can master the dialogue and make it authentic to the story.”
